FAQ
Frequently asked questions about INFRA, fully autonomous hubs and Hub-to-Grid (H2G) charging.
What is INFRA?
INFRA (INFRA Technologies Inc.) is a San Francisco company that designs and deploys infrastructure for autonomous vehicles: fully autonomous hubs that manage, maintain, charge, and optimize autonomous vehicle (AV) fleets. With AI-driven fleet management software, INFRA works to maximize AV efficiency, safety, and uptime.
What is a fully autonomous hub?
A fully autonomous hub is INFRA's facility for autonomous vehicle fleets (INFRA's March 2025 announcements called it the Giga Hub). It combines ultra-fast charging, automated maintenance, and AI-driven fleet coordination in one location. INFRA describes the platform as a scalable foundation for clean, efficient, and resilient urban mobility that can be replicated worldwide.
What is Hub-to-Grid (H2G)?
Hub-to-Grid (H2G) is INFRA's proprietary system that coordinates autonomous vehicle charging with the city's electric grid in real time. Vehicles charge during off-peak hours and can feed stored electricity back to the grid when demand surges, which reduces operational costs and contributes to grid stability.
What services does a fully autonomous hub provide?
A fully autonomous hub provides ultra-fast EV charging, automated maintenance services, and AI-based autonomous vehicle fleet management. These services are designed to give autonomous fleets maximum operational efficiency and minimal downtime.
Which deployments does INFRA design for?
INFRA designs the robotics and machinery for autonomous truck and bus deployments. For trucks: service bays sized for tractor-trailers, robotic arms that inspect, clean and service the vehicle, and ultra-fast charging with Hub-to-Grid (H2G) communications. For buses: depot bays, automated wash bays, and real-time AI fleet management that schedules charging and maintenance around the timetable. Both fleets can share one fully autonomous hub. See Trucking and Buses.
Where is INFRA headquartered?
INFRA is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and describes itself as building for global markets. Each role lists its own location on its page. Fully Autonomous Hub Manager and AV Infrastructure Engineer are Global, AI Infrastructure Engineer is San Francisco, Infrastructure Engineer is Remote.
Where is INFRA's first fully autonomous hub, and when is it expected to open?
INFRA's first fully autonomous hub is planned for Los Angeles. In its March 2025 announcements, INFRA said groundbreaking for the first hub was scheduled for late 2025, with operations expected to begin in 2026. No later update has been published on this site.
Who does INFRA work with?
INFRA's fully autonomous hub model is aimed at municipalities, automakers, technology companies, utility and energy providers, and autonomous fleet operators. For the Los Angeles network, INFRA said it is collaborating with local government officials, utility providers, and autonomous fleet operators, and it invites partnerships with municipalities, energy providers, and autonomous mobility companies.
What is INFRA's mission?
INFRA's mission is to create a seamless and efficient AV infrastructure by integrating cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions. The company is dedicated to building a global network of fully autonomous hubs to manage autonomous vehicle (AV) infrastructure, integrating advanced charging stations, maintenance facilities, and AI-driven fleet optimization systems.
Who leads INFRA?
John Gabriel is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of INFRA. He is quoted in INFRA's 2025 press releases on the first fully autonomous hub in Los Angeles and on smart city design.
Is INFRA hiring?
Yes, INFRA is hiring: its Careers page lists four open positions: Fully Autonomous Hub Manager, AV Infrastructure Engineer, AI Infrastructure Engineer, and Infrastructure Engineer. Each role lists its own location on its page. Fully Autonomous Hub Manager and AV Infrastructure Engineer are Global, AI Infrastructure Engineer is San Francisco, Infrastructure Engineer is Remote.
